Tolerating the Intolerant - 800 years of Dharmic Resistance

 Banner05

India's pluralist Dharmic traditions survived 800 years of Arabic Islamist aggression followed by 200 years of European Christian aggression and unlike many other nations, still managed to survive with its ancient Dharmic connection intact. Are the Dharmic traditions still under assault? Is "Religious freedom" being used as camouflage for neo colonialism? Recently published reports suggest that flagrant Human Rights Abuses of Dharmic and especially Hindu communities are still very much a part of the South Asian landscape. Can 21st century Britian learn from the Dharmic experience? With grass roots activists and widely recognised scholarstolerance02 coming together to explore these issues, the seminar promises to bring to the heart of Parliament the challenges facing a religious tradition and culture universally accepted as being the role model of non-violence, non-conversion and the primacy of human rights and freedoms over religious rights. With the kind support of Bob Blackman.
